NASB | James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God" [for temptation does not originate from God, but from our own flaws]; for God cannot be tempted by [what is] evil, and He Himself tempts no one. |
Bible Question: Does God test us? |
Bible Answer: James says to count it all joy when you encounter various trials, knowing that the trying of your faith produces patience. (James 1:2-4). But James goes on to tell us that we shouldn't even say when we are tempted that we are being tempted by God, but that all of us are tempted when we are enticed by our own lust. However, James clearly states that God will reward those who resist temptation (so much so that James says to count it all joy when you encounter trials). Though God does not tempt us, He will reward us for maintaining our faith in the midst of temptation. |
