NASB | James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God" [for temptation does not originate from God, but from our own flaws]; for God cannot be tempted by [what is] evil, and He Himself tempts no one. |
Bible Question: Thanks for the detailed reply - I was really wondering, though, whether the phrase "sin begets sin" is a literal quotation from the bible? Or does it stem from another source? |
Bible Answer: The phrase "sin begets sin" probably stems from an extra-biblical source. I ran the words through a Bible search engine, a concordance and I even tried to google it, but came up empty as far as a Biblical reference is concerned. Machaira |
