NASB | James 1:12 ¶ Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 1:12 ¶ Blessed [happy, spiritually prosperous, favored by God] is the man who is steadfast under trial and perseveres when tempted; for when he has passed the test and been approved, he will receive the [victor's] crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. |
Bible Question: In this scripture, it speaks of the crown of life as a reward for persevering through our trials throughout our life. If the crown of life is eternal life, aren't we already given that when we receive our salvation? Or is it not referring to eternal life but yet one of the crowns we receive and throw back at his feet? |
Bible Answer: When we invite Jesus to be our Lord and Savior, we have eternal life. But there are also rewards given for what we do on this earth and, I think, some are in the form of crowns so that we may join with the elders (as in Revelation 4)in laying our "crowns" at the Lord's feet. Debbie |
