NASB | James 1:12 ¶ Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 1:12 ¶ Blessed [happy, spiritually prosperous, favored by God] is the man who is steadfast under trial and perseveres when tempted; for when he has passed the test and been approved, he will receive the [victor's] crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. |
Bible Question: But how does verses 9-11 relate? Is there a fit? |
Bible Answer: In "highness" and in "lowness", we must give thanks to God at every turn, since our 'position' (either high or low) will not last but 'fade away' (v. 11). In all things, even in 'highness' and in 'lowness', we must give glory to God and persevere, showing our love for Him and receiving the crown of life as our reward. |
