NASB | Hebrews 8:10 "FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 8:10 "FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL IMPRINT MY LAWS UPON THEIR MINDS [even upon their innermost thoughts and understanding], AND ENGRAVE THEM UPON THEIR HEARTS [effecting their regeneration]. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. |
Bible Question:
[I think that you are missing the point of God's proclamation of ownership! As in Isaiah 1:18-20 we are called to abide in God and as we abide in Him He becomes our God and we become His people...] I apologize that I did not make my question clear, but my question was a comparison of in Deuteronomy 31:6 [..by their God to possess the land..(it was a Command to take possession of a land that God Himself had previously allotted to the people of Israel, in Abraham.)] and in Hebrews 13:5 [free from the love of money and be content with what you have.] I chose these words from the below. This is my main question. Because they state totally opposite meanings of phrases followed by same g the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.h This statement alone was not enough to ask you questions, but [He. 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who.. Dt. 31:1 And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel. Is one of gthemh Moses? ] this was one of my original questions. If the answer is no, above question does not have much meaning, but if it is yes, then it may have some meanings. I am sorry I did not ask clearly. But did it make any difference on between the first and this questions? [I donft know how to say it, but it seems Dt. in O.T is a local law, He. in N.T is an universal law to me.] This was my personal joke. O.T. is as Jewish history and N.T. is for everyone on the earth with Grace of Jesus. I am looking forward to seeing your reply. Thank you. Hirotami gHe chose Israel (Jacob) while not yet in his Mother's womb... and through him He chose Israel as His people... God offered to be their God as long as they lived in adherance to Him obeying His mandates as their gOne and Only God! gIn Deuteronomy 31:6 we find a newly released nation of slaves given the Command by their God to possess the land which He had promised to their forefather, Abraham... He seeks to encourage them and to remove any semblance of fear and doubt so He tells them to: gBe strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." (Deuteronomy 31:6) gThis Command is not to establish Israel as a world despot that will conquer all kingdoms and subjugate them into serviture... gWe know that Israel failed terribly on both accounts (taking possession of the land in the manner ordered by God, and being loyal to Yahweh, their forefathers' God who brought them out of the land of Egypt)... this is why the Lord chose a Remnant from within Israel to remain loyal and obedient to Him (Isaiah 10:20; Jeremiah 23:3)... this Remnant, together with Jesus' followers are the new people of Israel who though belonging to two different folds are made one in Jesus (John 10:16; Ephesians 2:11-22)... under this New Covenant Yahweh still claims Israel as His people and reminds Israel that He is our God and that we are His people (Hosea 1:10)... gThere is no new law but a continuation of God's original offer: abide in me and I will be your God and you will be my people: gKeep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5) |
Bible Answer: Hi hirotami, Here is how I compare/contrast your Scripture verses. Deuteronomy 31:8, "And the Lord is the **One who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. *He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear, or be dismayed." Hebrews 13:5, ".."I will never desert you, nor will **I ever forsake you," 6 so that we confidently say, "The Lord is my *Helper, I will not be afraid, What shall man do to me?" John 14:16, "and I will ask the Father, and **He will give you another Helper, that *He may be with you forever." 2 Cor 6:16, "...I will dwell in them and walk among them; and **I will be their God, and they shall be *My people." Romans 9:25, "As He says also in Hosea, "I will call those who were not My people, '**My people,' And her who was not beloved, 'Beloved.' 26 And it shall be that in the place where it was said to them, 'You are not My people,' There they shall be called sons of the living *God." The * and ** stars are mine for comparisons. From the heart, Ray |
