Bible Question:
I was reading some commentaries on the bible and it stated "He is the only man who is now the Mediator between God and mankind (1 Tim. 2:5). It is Jesus Christ to whom God has given the power to “save to the uttermost” all who call upon his name, because he ever lives to make intercession for us (Heb. 7:25)." I believe that Jesus is GOD. For the most part I have many scriptures that support it. However, I sometimes run across some that I need explanation. For example the above one says GOD gave the power to save. Is this a correct commentary to say GOD gave Jesus. Since Jesus is GOD how is he given the power to save? I thought he always had that power. There were just many prophecies that need to be fulfilled before it was "actualized". Noveta |
Bible Answer: Greetings Novetta! I think that part of your problem is your translation of Heb. 7:25. This verse never says anything about 'God giving Jesus the power to save.' The text simply says that 'He is able to save.' Which translation are you using? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
