Bible Question:
Hebrews 4:14-16 In John 17 is called "The High Priestly Prayer of Jesus" But in Hebrews4:14:16, What is least one different aspect of Jesus as our High Priest? And in Hebrews 7:23-25,I see the different aspect is in verse 24"but he hold his Priesthood permantly because he continues forever. Thank you for helping. |
Bible Answer: Hi sweet, One might say that because of your point that He continues forever, He can GUARANTEE a better covenant. And personally, I would say that He is a Priest [sic] forever. 1) Hebrews 7:22, "so much the more also (Jesus) has become the GUARANTEE of a better covenant." We have a High (Priest) who is holy, innocent, sinless and He offered up Himself up as a Son, made perfect forever. Hebrews 8:3, "For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; hence it is necessary that this High Priest also have something to offer." 2) Hebrews 8:6, "But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as (He) is also the MEDIATOR of a better covenant." 3) Hebrews 6:20, "...(Jesus) has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. ...7:3, "Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son/ of God, He abides a (Priest) perpetually." 4) Hebrews 7:17, "For it is witnessed of Him, Thou art a *(Priest) forever according to the order of Melchizedek." 5) Hebrews 5:4, "And no one takes the honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even as Aaron was. So also Christ/ did not glorify Himself so as to become a High (Priest), but [it was the One] who said to Him, 'Thou art My Son, today I/ have begotten Thee'; 6 just as He says also in another passage, (Thou) art a Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek." 6) Psalm 2:7, "...He said to (Me), "Thou art My Son, today I have begotten Thee." 7) Psalm 111:9, "(He) has sent redemption to His people; He has ORDAINED His covenant forever; Holy and awesome is His name." Ordained, guaranteed, and mediated an old and a new, better covenant in Christ Jesus. From the heart, Ray |
