Bible Question: IN LUKE 2:52 IT SAYS THAT JESUS GREW IN IN WISDOM AND STATURE AND IN FAVOR WITH GOD AND MEN. HOW COULD JESUS GROW IN WISDOM IF HE WAS OMNISCIENT AND ALL WISE. FOR HE WAS BOTH GOD AND MAN. |
Bible Answer: Wisdom is the application of knowledge. By becoming flesh and fulfilling the law, Jesus grew in the application of truth in his human existence. The scripture that I referenced, Heb 5:8 says "Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered." This is experiential learning that the verse talks about. He experienced obedience and he grew in wisdom as part of emptying Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men (Phil 2:7). These things were necessary for his functions as High Priest. |
