Bible Question:
Thanks for the input Searcher56, I am still a little cloudy about whether testing the spirits (1 Jn 4:1) is actually connected to discernment (referring to Heb. 5:14). Hmmm, I guess I would ask if spiritual discernment comes forth from testing the spirits?? (Looking forward to an answer, please respond as soon as you can!) hidden in Christ, Lissa |
Bible Answer: Lissa, This is my humble opinion. 1 John 4:1 needs to be viewed in the context of at least the next two verses. It is about testing what other person says. Hebrews 5:14 doesn't have to be about another person, but could be. I think 1 John 4:1 also takes maturity. There are leaders who do not confess Jesus is not from God. It may not always be clear, because they use smoke and mirrors. I think it take discernment to know if a spirit is from God. I hope I cleared things up, Searcher |
