AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 4:14 ¶ Inasmuch then as we [believers] have a great High Priest who has [already ascended and] passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith and cling tenaciously to our absolute trust in Him as Savior]. |
Bible Question: should we go to confession and confess our sins to a priest or should we go directly to God? |
Bible Answer: Hello granny, In Protestant theology there is no need for a mediator (such as a priest) since Jesus Christ already is the One(1 Tim. 2:5). See also Heb. 4:14-16: "Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Christ Jesus is our Mediator! I hope this helps, BradK |
