AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 2:14 ¶ Therefore, since [these His] children share in flesh and blood [the physical nature of mankind], He Himself in a similar manner also shared in the same [physical nature, but without sin], so that through [experiencing] death He might make powerless (ineffective, impotent) him who had the power of death--that is, the devil-- |
Bible Question: Is this verse saying to me that Jesus does not always deliver us from the hard things of life, the places where dreams die, the places of extreme betrayal, the places of hurtful disappointments, the physical sickness that rack our body, the places of no understanding…. Is this verse saying that because like Him, Jesus “going through” the death was more valuable and brought more life than if He was to be delivered from the process. Going through death of dreams, hopes, plans… going through physical disease… could it be that we don’t see good the same ways as God does, He sees this as good because it voids out the power of evil, making no effect the power of death… the devil’s power… it voids it… God has a greater plan… it is not our way.. isn’t that better than asking to be totally relieved of the trial, temptation or suffering and God says no or wait because He wants us to “go through” therefore making the devils scheme and power ineffective. Is this what this verse is saying? |
Bible Answer: 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. Praise the Lord! Norm |
