NASB | Hebrews 13:5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 13:5 Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed--be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, "I WILL NEVER [under any circumstances] DESERT YOU [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], NOR WILL I FORSAKE or LET YOU DOWN or RELAX MY HOLD ON YOU [assuredly not]!" [Josh 1:5] |
Subject: Yes, God speaks to us. |
Bible Note: Nina - You asked a question about God speaking to us. I would like to suggest a good book for you to read entitled "How to Hear From God" by Joyce Meyer. This book will definitely give you insight into the many ways that God speaks to us - through His Word, through other people, even through our own common sense, and many more. Also, remember what Rom 10:17 says..."hearing comes by the Word of God." I believe that the best way for us to hear from God is through His Word. He is the Word, so when you open the Bible, He's opening His mouth. He's speaking to you right then. This means that we must be consistent in reading/studying His Word, and in prayer. Also, meditate on His Word. If we set our meditation on other things - T.V. all day, telephone all day, bury ourselves in work - then we can block our own ears from hearing. Hope this helps. |
