NASB | Hebrews 13:16 And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 13:16 Do not neglect to do good, to contribute [to the needy of the church as an expression of fellowship], for such sacrifices are always pleasing to God. |
Bible Question: Can we do do good and share to a point of sacrifice ... or do we stop short? |
Bible Answer: "Discipleship, Involvement—Praise and practice work together as proper offerings. The writer of Hebrews wrote powerful, deep theological truths to lead his Jewish readers outside the Jewish camp to Jesus, the only High Priest. He showed that worship which truly pleases God centers not on ritual but on Jesus. Such worship is authenticated by good works of love for other people. This too is proper worship, pleasing God. Only as Christian love involves us in the lives of needy, hurting people are we Christ’s disciples. See note on Lk 14:34-35." (Disciple's Study Bible) |
