NASB | Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality--faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. |
Bible Question: Next question from the kooky professor... Faith consists of equal parts of will, emotion and truth. I have puzzled over this for a while and am thinking about what Hebrews says about faith consisting of things yet hoped for etc. But what do some of you guys think? God Bless, Tamara |
Bible Answer: More on faith from Nelson's Bible Dictionary. FAITH - a belief in or confident attitude toward God, involving commitment to His will for one's life. However, intellectual agreement to truth is found in James 2;19' where demons believe in one God but are not saved by this kind of (faith/belief). Saving faith; is a reliance in, and commitment to, Christ. Obedience is also part of it, if we believe; we are to obey, "I know whom I have believed and I am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that day"(2Tim.1:12) |
