Subject: Are these the "willfully sinning" v26? |
Bible Note: Makarios, you are speaking of saving faith. I agree, apostates and unbelievers do not have this. The danger is, imo, that there are those who "say" they believe in God, yet do not know that they do not have the faith that is approved by God. Would you agree that there are those who know about God but do not "know" Him? Did the slave "know" his Master as he claimed? Could the talent represent what God gives us - faith - faith that is meant to be placed in the finished work of Jesus Christ, not in the ground. (Adam?) "He also has planted eternity in men's hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy]," Ecc 3 :11 (AMP) From this have I erroneously concluded that everyone has an "awareness of God?" Man has the ability to choose - to exercize faith in God (as evidenced in obedience to believe in Christ as God has commanded 1 John 3:23) or reject God - the wicked slave buried the talent. He did not respond to what the Master had given him.(Heb 11:6) He chose his way instead of the Way of the Master. What is our responsibility toward those who are apostate? (I am facing this issue right now with a friend who refuses to believe.) Thanks for your input! Blessings, mommapbs |
