Bible Question: My pastor wouldn't marry me to my boyfriend b/c he doesn't know us spiritually due to the fact that we haven't attended that church (I'm a member of) in about a year. He had only been with our church for less than a week when he made this decision. He wouldn't talk to me to find out where I am spiritually (his assistant spoke with me on the phone). I am closer to Christ now that I watch TBN every day and listen to KLOVE everyday that I was when I only went to church every sunday. Should I be looking for another church? |
Bible Answer: Dear Sister, I greet you in the glorious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My name is Paul, and I thought that I would just give you my thoughts on this subject. As a general rule, I tend to believe that a breaking of fellowship should be predominately due to serious doctrinal issues, i.e. Salvation. Therefore, because of these thoughts of mine, this is a tough question to answer. I wish I could give you some helpful scripture in order to assist you with this decision, however I know of none right off the top of my head that will follow. I have two questions that I would appreciate if you could answer, as it will help me better tailor my answer to you. 1. Is your boyfriend a believer? 2. Are you two going in the same direction? If you could answer these two questions I’m sure that I can be of more help to you. God bless, and may the Lord be with you. In Christ, Pastor Paul Is. 6:8 “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.” -Hale |
