NASB | Hebrews 10:10 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 10:10 And in accordance with this will [of God] we [who believe in the message of salvation] have been sanctified [that is, set apart as holy for God and His purposes] through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) once for all. |
Subject: Superior Forgiveness |
Bible Note: The book of Hebrews is all about the superiority of Christ. In this passage we see that in the old covenant the one offering a sacrifice did not have the full expiation of his sins. He had to return year after year and often more frequently than that. (If I had lived in those days I would have had to go to the temple daily!) Christ, however, afforded a superior sacrifice in that it is effectual for all believers for all time. Our full pardon is procured. We are sanctified and our sins perfectly expiated. |
