NASB | Hebrews 1:9 "YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS; THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS ANOINTED YOU WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS ABOVE YOUR COMPANIONS." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 1:9 "YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS [integrity, virtue, uprightness in purpose] AND HAVE HATED LAWLESSNESS [injustice, sin]. THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS ANOINTED YOU WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS ABOVE YOUR COMPANIONS." [Ps 45:6, 7] |
Subject: Who are the companions? |
Bible Note: So was God choosing among Jesus and "those who communed" with him the one to exalt to his throne based upon the extent to which each loved righteousness and hated lawlessness? It doesn't seem logical. I think it has to do with a comparison to others that have ruled for God. David expunged the Promised Land of remaining idolators and Solomon reigned in unprecedented peace over Israel. Jesus will soon destroy the wicked and reign as Prince of Peace for the 1,000 years. And the effects of his rule will last forever! |
