Bible Question:
Jesus taught the christians to worship God our heavenly father but He did not tell the christians to praise and worship Him. How come now, the christians praise and worship Jesus? I would welcome your comments and the truth. With Love in Christ. fytrobert |
Bible Answer: Jesus is God incarnate. He gave everything so that I could be saved from the wrath of God, because of the sins I commit. Praise of Jesus the Christ is part of the Christians faith. He was worshipped at His birth: See Matthew 2:9-11. (v11)"And on going into the house, they saw the Child with Mary His mother, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then opening their treasure bags, they presented to Him gifts--gold and frankincense and myrrh.” After Peter walked on water and returned to the boat: Matthew 14:33, “And those in the boat knelt and worshiped Him, saying, Truly You are the Son of God!” When Jesus met the two Mary’s after his resurrection: Matthew 28:9, “And as they went, behold, Jesus met them and said, Hail (greetings)! And they went up to Him and clasped His feet and worshiped Him.” At His ascension: See Luke 24:50-53, “(v52) And they, worshiping Him, went back to Jerusalem with great joy; (v53) And they were continually in the temple celebrating with praises and blessing and extolling God. Amen (so be it).” Andrew Murray in his book The Holiest of All writes, “The Psalm speaks of Jehovah coming to redeem His people; the Son is so one with the Father, that as the father only works through Him, and can only be known in Him, the worship can only rise to God through Him too.” Hebrews 1:6, “Moreover, when He brings the firstborn Son again into the habitable world, He says, Let all the angels of God worship Him.” Please read all of Rev 5:1-14. The scroll of the Lamb. Versus 11-14 are below. Then I looked, and I heard the voices of many angels on every side of the throne and of the living creatures and the elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin], and they numbered ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands, 12 Saying in a loud voice, Deserving is the Lamb, Who was sacrificed, to receive all the power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and majesty (glory, splendor) and blessing! 13 And I heard every created thing in heaven and on earth and under the earth [in Hades, the place of departed spirits] and on the sea and all that is in it, crying out together, To Him Who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb be ascribed the blessing and the honor and the majesty (glory, splendor) and the power (might and dominion) forever and ever (through the eternities of the eternities)! 14 Then the four living creatures (beings) said, Amen (so be it)! And the elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin] prostrated themselves and worshiped Him Who lives forever and ever The Apostle Paul hit the nail on the head concerning the Lord Jesus Christ when he wrote the following to the Christians at Colosse: "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross."
