AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance and only expression of the glory of [our awesome] God [reflecting God's Shekinah glory, the Light-being, the brilliant light of the divine], and the exact representation and perfect imprint of His [Father's] essence, and upholding and maintaining and propelling all things [the entire physical and spiritual universe] by His powerful word [carrying the universe along to its predetermined goal]. When He [Himself and no other] had [by offering Himself on the cross as a sacrifice for sin] accomplished purification from sins and established our freedom from guilt, He sat down [revealing His completed work] at the right hand of the Majesty on high [revealing His Divine authority], |
Bible Question: What do you say to a person who says, "I don't believe that Jesus is God because in the old testament, God told Moses that no one could see His face and live." What they are really saying is, if Jesus is God, then everyone who saw Him would've died. |
Bible Answer: If you read exodus 33:11-23 and ask youself questions i think that it will cleal thing up. In verse 11 we see Moses speaking to the Lord face to face. Then if we read verse 20 God tells moses that he can not see his face for no man shall see his face and live. If you just read these 2 verses they seem to contradict each other. Lets look back @ verse 18. Here Moses ask to see Gods Glory. Why would Moses who according to verse 11 is speaking to God face to face ask to see His Glory, and God Answer that he can not see his face but then lets moses see his back parts. verse 23. The anwser is that Gods Glory can be taken off. So when God says that no man shall see his face and live. He is talking about seeing His Face in His Glory. It is when His glory is on that moses could not see his face. Another example of God removing His Glory is in the conception of Jesus. He had to take his Glory Off in order to be place in the womb of Mary to become man, and then after his resurection He is seen with His Glory back on. |
