AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance and only expression of the glory of [our awesome] God [reflecting God's Shekinah glory, the Light-being, the brilliant light of the divine], and the exact representation and perfect imprint of His [Father's] essence, and upholding and maintaining and propelling all things [the entire physical and spiritual universe] by His powerful word [carrying the universe along to its predetermined goal]. When He [Himself and no other] had [by offering Himself on the cross as a sacrifice for sin] accomplished purification from sins and established our freedom from guilt, He sat down [revealing His completed work] at the right hand of the Majesty on high [revealing His Divine authority], |
Bible Question:
When the bible speaks of Jesus sitting at the right hand of the majesty of high (Heb. 1:3); sits at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:2); at the right hand of the power of God (Luke 22:69); who is at the right hand of God (1 Pe.3:22)... What exactly does it mean? I appreciate your input, Jluna007 |
Bible Answer: "God is spirit" (John 4:24 NASB); not "a spirit." "Right hand of God" is the place of honor Jesus assumed after His ascension. God is spirit. Therefore, he does not have or walk around in a literal, physical body. God does not have literal, physical hands. Thus the phrase "right hand of God" is not literal, but is a figure of speech, denoting the place of honor. There are numerous figures of speech used throughout the Bible which, if taken literally, would make nonsense of the verses in which they appear. As to your question, "Who is at the right hand of God": Who does the Bible say is at the right hand of God? --JVH0212 "In essentials unity, in nonessentials liberty, and in all things charity." |
