AMPLIFIED 2015 | Titus 1:9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy word [of God] as it was taught to him, so that he will be able both to give accurate instruction in sound [reliable, error-free] doctrine and to refute those who contradict [it by explaining their error]. |
Bible Question: what doctrin does a church followare what is true doctrin. |
Bible Answer: Notice that in this verse Paul instructs Titus to use sound doctrine to exhort and convince. Titus was encouraged to build this sound doctrine from the Word, as he had been taught himself. The word doctrine is translated from the Greek word "didaskalaia" which means teachings. The word sound is translated from the Greek word "hugiaino" which means solid, whole, healthy, complete. Thus, true doctrine is only founded in the Word of God... and it must be the complete, unaltered Word of God. |
