NASB | 2 Timothy 4:2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 4:2 preach the word [as an official messenger]; be ready when the time is right and even when it is not [keep your sense of urgency, whether the opportunity seems favorable or unfavorable, whether convenient or inconvenient, whether welcome or unwelcome]; correct [those who err in doctrine or behavior], warn [those who sin], exhort and encourage [those who are growing toward spiritual maturity], with inexhaustible patience and [faithful] teaching. |
Subject: Are we ready? |
Bible Note: How might we recognize a comfort zone? Could it be found in our tolerance of sin in our midst? Perhaps complacency? How about routine in our worship or devotional life - might this obscure the small still voice calling us to another place? For me I believe that a Comfort Zone is the inability to be bothered with something that is going to add extra inconveniences and stress to our daily routine. No one really likes to be inconvenienced. Yes; I believe that it can be found in our tolerance of sin. We as Christians are so bombarded by sin on a daily basis, that it nolonger affect us to the degree that it should. Whenever I turn on the news, I listen about the death of someone. At one time where I might have been sadden by the incident, now unless it’s someone I know, it nolonger phases me. I know it’s not right but that’s the way it is. And yes I believe that it can also be through complacency as well as through routine in worship. But I also believe that we are beyond the point of pondering it, we are at the point of taking action, collectively, as one body. Unfortunately this is easier said than done. The CurtMan |
