Subject: The Ultimate Expression of Narcissism |
Bible Note: Homosexuality - The Ultimate Expression of Narcissism! (DISCLAIMER: To avoid any misunderstanding of my intent, please understand that I am not characterizing those individuals who choose a life of "singleness" in my thesis! I believe that those who choose not to marry may find their completion in a relationship with God. The Lord is not only our Perfect Parent, but He tells us He will be our husband as well. "For your Maker is your husband- the Lord Almighty is his name- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth." Isa 54:5) According to God’s Word, (2 Tim 3:1) "difficult times" will characterize the "last days." The Apostle Paul identifies the attributes of such a world in his letter to Timothy: “For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy” 2 Timothy 3:2 One, in particular, has caught my attention; "For men will be lovers of self." Narcissism, or self love, is more than just a self-centered pre-occupation. In its purest form, it totally rejects the Creator and His Creation – perhaps it even attempts to deify humanity! When God created the first man and woman, He took the woman from the man. Eve has often been described as Adam’s “missing parts.” “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him’. (God recognized the need for intimate relationship and provided for it!) Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man.’ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” Genesis 2:18-24 The "one flesh" aspect of this verse is not necessarily sexual - but rather it is the way God sees man as he was created; re-united with parts that he is missing; parts that will complement and complete him. “Opposites attract.” The opposite of man is woman. Heterosexuals and homosexuals both recognize a need for completion. Research has shown that homosexual men often seek partners who have qualities they lack. Yet when man chooses to “complete himself” with another of the same gender, he is rejecting the plan of completion God has provided. (Gen 2:18) To me, it's like looking in the mirror and seeking gratification from what is seen. (Remember that when Adam awoke from his surgical slumber, he didn't see himself; he saw EVE - WOW: what o woman!) In essence, homosexual choice asserts that THIS way is (equal to or) better than God's way! From the media, to our classrooms, and even many of our pulpits, homosexuality is not only tolerated, it is promoted. It is touted as an accepted, "alternative lifestyle." Now if there is an alternative, then there must also be a standard to deviate from! God's design, it seems, is no longer adequate to meet the desires of our progressive society. Yet, we all know, "It is not good for the man to be alone" . . . So the real question becomes, WHO “will make a helper suitable for him.”? Respectfully Submitted, Mommapbs |
