Subject: Contradictions in Bible Study |
Bible Note: Searcher56 I think it is more than man points out contradictions. I believe the problem is more exegesis/interpretation. There are contradictions generated by misses in translation or copying and that is not what I'm talking about. What I talking about is where our interpretation of a passage results in a contradiction in our interpretation of another passage. How do we resolve these? Do we simply ignore the contradiction? Do deny that there is a contradiction? Do we charge those that point out the contradictiion as heretics and/or trouble makers? Or do we say something is wrong I either misinterpreted that verse or I'm misinterpreting this verse? What happens when both verses viewed separately support commonly accepted teaching? Could the commonly accepted teaching been wrong all along? Or do we throw up our hands and say I'm no theologian I don't know? |
