Bible Question:
Hi,I would like to find out how other Christians feel about playing movie clips during a bible study or sermon? I ask because my congregation was playing a movie for almost 30min on the human brain and how we use a certain part to develop our personal thoughts and beliefs. I felt this to be very inappropriate as we are meant to be discussing God's inspired Word during a BIBLE study and not the ramblings of a scientist. In general, I am not comfortable with the use of video clips during service. I am however struggling with how to defend my concerns other than it not being based on God's word. Please would someone help shed some light onto my concerns. Many thanks, K. Long |
Bible Answer: Your concerns are worthy. We devote time for service to God and all else must be forsaken during that time/process. Using supportive scripture clips for a message should be appropriate for illustration purposes and are effective to make a point. I use them in sunday school teachings. I also have concerns of some congregations' infusion of entertainment efforts during service. I just don't participate in such. |
