Subject: who wrote the Bible? |
Bible Note: jim's answer is cool but having been a "jarhead" myself i think leroy needs a "simplified" answer. "They always say a man wrote the bible."..not true ! there were over 40 men who were inspired to write. http://netministries.org/bbasics/bbasics.html..this website is great for breaking down the bible...but basically over 40 different writers over 1500 years on 3 different continents using 3 different languages(hebrew, aramaic, and greek) wrote what has now become our bible...remember in old testament times the sacred scrolls that kept the scriptures were not in the same order that we have today, you even see refrences to other books of hebrew history in kings and chronicles...Jesus refered to the "old testament" quite often...the new testament and The word 'testament' literally means 'something that serves as proof' or 'a personal witness either verbally or written'. the new testament is a series of letters or epistles and of course the gospels and the historical book of acts and the prophectic revelation.. i think the simple answer after you hit'em with the facts is...my fellow marine the bible took over 1500 years to write i can't give you a fifteen second explanation. however if you'd like know more follow me as i dig deeper...or you can just dig deeper and then hit'em with it:-) in Christ kyle |
