Bible Question: How can we tell which words of Jesus are literal? |
Bible Answer: Dear TommyS, As in all literature, context is the key. For instance: John 6:35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. Our Lord was speaking in a spiritual sense. He also said that He was "the bread of life". R.C. Sproul has a great little book on how to undestand the Bible. In the meantime rely on common sense and prayers for enlightenment. John Reformed |
