AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God's will, both publicly and privately--behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; |
Bible Question: What difference does it make who wrote the Scriptures? |
Bible Answer: It does help to understand the way the scriptures were written if we know who did the writing. Yes, all of the scripture was written by the inspiration of God, but some "inconsistancies" are explained by the knowledge of who wrote the scriptures, to whom they were originally intended and the time that they were written. Customs change, language changes and these also need to be taken into account when reading scripture, especially those parts that are hard to understand. Debbie |
