Subject: Did God grant Simon repentance Acts 8:24 |
Bible Note: Simon's sin was identified and a consequence was pronounced. But, did Simon obey Peter's instruction in v 22? In v 24 it is implied that he feared the consequence of his sin, but where do we see that he repented of it? Can this be implied just because he wasn't struck dead like Ananias and Sapphira? What would this suggest to us as believers? When we are confronted with personal sin by another, can that person pray our repentance for us? Is it possible that when we ask others to pray for us, we neglect to see the necessity of coming in repentance to the Lord personally? So, for Simon, I still wonder if by his request for others to pray for him that we can indeed conclude that personal repentance had ocurred. |
