Subject: can divorce be initiated |
Bible Note: Brad, Your answer is appropriate, due to the brevity of my question. Thank you for your response. I have counseled with a number of Bible-believing pastors, and during the past year, after finding a pastor that my spouse agreed to see after some failed attempts, that particular pastor said that he saw my marriage as existing nowhere else except on paper. This is because my wife continued to be un-cooperative and it was evident that she never meant to recite her vows in the first place. Since I have no wife to speak of, the pastor said divorce was an option. A godly friend said to me that he would like to see that pastor back his view up biblically. I say that if an unbeliever leaves, I am allowed to let her leave, and I should then be legally freed according to the laws of my state, and be protected against future financial resposibilities prompted by irrational decisions on her part. I know this is brief, but I really feel the need to initiate divorce proceedings after a marriage of 8 months and seperation of more than 15. Tim |
