Subject: Last what is an effeminate? |
Bible Note: Hi journey_me, The word you refer to is (Gr.) malakoi. The Enhanced Strongs Lexicon gives the following uses:[malakos] adj. Of uncertain affinity; GK 3434; Four occurrences; AV translates as “soft” three times, and “effeminate” once. 1 soft, soft to the touch. 2 metaph. in a bad sense. 2a effeminate. 2a1 of a catamite. 2a2 of a boy kept for homosexual relations with a man. 2a3 of a male who submits his body to unnatural lewdness. of a male prostitute. In context, It means abusers of themselves with men or males involved in unnatural lewdness. Vincent gives the meaning as: Luxurious and dainty. The word was used in a darker and more horrible sense, to which there may be an allusion here. I trust this helps, BradK |
