Bible Question: thanks for you response- I am doing a short sermon in bible school on overcoming fear- my mother passed away suddenly in our home on 1/19 and my husband left me on 2.5- but God has given the strenght to move on- any scriptures to pin point my losses- in order to help myself and others |
Bible Answer: This may seem odd but Ps 23,4-6 4 first came to mind: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, [1] I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. While this may seem odd, I think that at the times in our lives when we loose a loved one, no matter how we have lost them, we are open to spiritual attacks from Satan. Our emotions can at times take control and drive to thoughts and actions we might normally have. It can truly seem as if we are walking through a dark, dismal valley with no hope of escape or even strength to get us through. It is at these moments when GOD wants us remember that HE is there. HE is not coming. HE is already there...making HIMSELF available to us. That is when we remember we are HIS child and HIS SPIRIT is the staff that keeps Satan at bay. This realization of HIS presence starts to fill us in ways we did not expect and in ways that shock others because of the HIS peace that flows from within us. As a start... I hope this helps. |
