NASB | 2 Timothy 1:5 For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 1:5 I remember your sincere and unqualified faith [the surrendering of your entire self to God in Christ with confident trust in His power, wisdom and goodness, a faith] which first lived in [the heart of] your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am confident that it is in you as well. |
Bible Question:
In Mathew 9:18 Jairus, his wife and daughter that receives a miracle. Are these people the relatives of Timothy? References 2Timothy 1:5 Acts 16:1. If so please show me. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Statenisland, There is no textual Biblical evidence to link the family of Jairus to the family of Timothy, spoken of in 2 Tim 1:5, Acts 16:1. Lois, Timothy's grandmother, is mentioned nowhere else in the Bible, but Eunice, Timothy's mother, is mentioned in Acts 16:1. Timothy's mother Eunice brought him up from a young age in the Christian faith (2 Tim 3:15). The NASB Study Bible comments that Timothy's father (a Greek) was apparently an unbeliever, explaining that it is possible that he is the reason that Timothy had not been circumcised as a child.
