Bible Question: what does 2 Timothy 1 through 5 mean |
Bible Answer: The Home is the theme here. Remember that this is Paul's last writing! His pen was to be dried forever. This Epistle is very personal. He mentions twenty-three individuals. Although alone and facing death, yet he forgot himself in thinking of others. Timothy had been reared in a sweet Christian home, with his mother Eunice and his grandmother Lois. Paul mentions these wonderful Christian women and commends Timothy for having had early training at a consecrated birth. Paul calls Timothy his "son in the faith" (1:2) It seems clear that the youth was led to confess Christ by Paul during his first missionary journey. He was a Christian forom childhood. It is no surprise that Paul saw in timothy a lad of promise as a minister in the early Church. He became Pauls "understudy," and at the end of the apostle's life, he was the best man to whom Paul could turn over his work. Parental example is the greatest answer to the problems that youths face today...Usually starting at home...Parents either don't go to church or have no spiritual guidance in their life...Which is handed down to the youth...Timothy was truly a son in faith (1:2) |
