Bible Question: A girl in our church is very unhappily married with kids. She and I have recently become very good friends (I am male). I have learned that she has developed an enormous crush on me and is about to leave her husband in the hopes that I will become interested in her. She has told a couple of her friends about her feelings for me. I have never done anything to provoke these feelings in her. It has gotten out-of-hand (she calls and e-mails me many times a day and is starting to ask very leading questions). I have somewhat tried to avoid confronting her about this, but a friend told me that as a brother in Christ of hers, I am obligated to confront her because this is tanatmount to adultery. I seem to remember reading or hearing this also. Does anyone know where I might find references to this in the Bible? I am hoping that if I can find this and read it, I might find some inspiration on how to handle this situation...it cannot continue because she is about to make the wrong decision for the wrong reasons. Thank you. |
Bible Answer: drcinva: First of all you have made a serious mistake by counseling her at all. Make it a ruel that men counsel men, and women counsel women! You are very foolish to not have refered her to someone who is equipped to counsel and not allow transference of feelings. You had best take heed and run as fas as you can away from all contact from her. There are husbands that might not think twice about beating the heck out of you. You have a serious responsibility in allowing her to become close enough to you to have a "crush". Biblically you are in sin while being intimate with a mans wife, and talking with her and knowing all you do is doing just that. Leave her alone, stay away, and do it NOW! justme |
