Bible Question: Why do we bless our food when we prepare to eat? |
Bible Answer: Butterfly1068 Because of 1 Tim. 4:3-4 "forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. [4] For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving;" Also we do not know what curses may have been spoken ove the food before we received it. A field hand may have cut his hand as he picked that tomato and cursed the tomato. Or a cook could have burnt his hand as he was preparing the dish and cursed the dish. I'm not big on worring about curses but I sure don't want to eat something someone may have cursed wihtout asking God's blessing upon it and receiving it with thanksgiving. EdB |
