Bible Question (short): Does one wife equal first and last wife? |
Question (full): Concerning 1 Tim 3:2 and Titus 1:6 listed here: 1Ti 3:2 Therefore, an elder must be blameless, the husband of one wife, stable, sensible, respectable, a lover of strangers, and teachable. Tit 1:6 An elder must be blameless. He must be the husband of one wife and have children who are believers and who are not accused of having wild lifestyles or of being rebellious. I understand and agree with God's hatred of divorce, but if a non-Christian wife, who committed adultery, fornication and homosexual acts abandons and divorces you after 7 years of living apart, is the man who was called to be a preacher penalized for his ex-wife's actions by being refused to follow that calling after having become a Christian? Does these two scriptures mean one and only wife, first wife and only wife, wife of life, or just one wife as it is stated. Can I still become a preacher? |
