AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Timothy 2:12 I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet [in the congregation]. |
Bible Question: According to 1 Tim 2:12 A woman is not to teach or exercise authority (spiritual) over a man, and if she was a pastor then she would be usurping that position of the covering of leadership that a man has over her. So how can a woman be a pastor and be an authoritive figure over a man. Man was created first, then woman. Is he not head over her? |
Bible Answer: No, he (man) is NOT head over her (woman)...male and female roles don't come into play other than in family relations (husband/wife, father/daughter, mother/son, brother/sister, uncle/neice, aunt/nephew, etc.) There is neither Jew or Gentile, male or female in Christ. We are ALL admonished to spread the Gospel and make disciples out of all nations. As a single woman, what man am I considered to be "under"? In other words, what man (human male) is given as "head" over me? My Dad? No, he is the head of his household - which now only consists of him and my mom. I am almost 30 and living on my own, waiting for God to send my husband. MY head is Christ, as He should always be; yet I am the current legal head of my household. |
