Bible Question: question I have then is not so much as what prophet does, but more do you belive he still call men or women as prophets or prpohetess in the church according to 1 corinthians chap 14 verse 28, I belive. Do you belive women can be called to teach or preach in not just over women bible studies, but in weekly meetings on Sundays not as pastors just as teachers or preachers? |
Bible Answer: Devon: The verse you refer to does not ask or answer the question you pose. However, few would argue that some "women" have been gifted with the ability to teach, and yes even preach. But, we tend to cover over this by saying in front of women only. Well friend many a man has listened and been blessed from these women teacher/preachers by listening totapes or CD's made when they spoke. I have heard many women on Dr. James Dobson's radio programs. Some women have been better than some of the men guest speakers. I think Scripture was written at a time when the majority of women were considered low, and even personal property, which we do not consider this now. I do not think the position of Pastor is a position for a woman, but not because they could'nt do the job, but rather is it really the call of God? But any other position is open for women, and they deserve recognitation and ordination. I hope this presents a wider scope of understanding for you. justme |
