AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Thessalonians 3:6 ¶ Now we command you, believers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and by His authority, that you withdraw and keep away from every brother or sister who leads an undisciplined life and does not live in accordance with the tradition and teaching that you have received from us. |
Bible Question:
I am at a church and have decided to leave. There is no peace and a lot of prideful situations going on and I need to learn the bible with kind, humble, loving people. I do not like trouble so I have tried to tell my story nicely and only had vicious attacks. So far it has been awefull trying to leave. I have been told this is petty and we should not leave and we are against what God wants. Please, please, give me bible verses/scripture that can back me up. I have waited 4 years to feel good at this church and maybe for a few weeks here and there felt great but most of the entire time find I am feeling like and outcast and upset over these issues. Give me scripture and help please. Thank you! |
Bible Answer: Hi, Glynda! Paul's admonishion is that we are to worship in order (peace) and not disorder (dissension): For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. (1 Corinthians 14:33) Paul also spoke on the reasons of coming together as the Body of Christ, and the behavior which we must adhere to: Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf. Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar? Do I mean then that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. (1 Corinthians 10:16-21) We cannot come together as the world comes together (full of unrighteousness, envies, egocentrism, and lustful desires--sex, power, wealth...); we must come together in humble adoration to serve and love one another in Christ... it is this type of worship for which He offered Himself to us (1 Corinthians 11:23-30). Please, if you have not done it yet, begin an intensive Prayer Group (even if just with family and close friends) for both your peace and the reform of any errors in your congregation. God Bless!
