Bible Question: Shalom. How do you explain to those who do not believe in the eternal punishment of the lake of fire? Even using 2Thess. 1:8-9, 2 Peter 2:9, and Rev. 14:11, there are those who say the Lord will not send His children to burn in hell, and that "where the worm dieth not" is only a reference to ancient burn pits. My opinion is that hell does exist, whether we believe it or not. God bless, michael. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Michael, Perhaps John 8:31-47 will help them to see that there is an eternal punishment of the lake of fire. If they are children of God, then they will not experience this punishment. If they are not children of God, then this punishment will be real to them. They must truly ask themselves, "Am I a child of God?" And if not, then they need to be brought to repentence and a faith in the Lord. The Bible is clear that the eternal punishment does exist for those who do not believe. Blessings to you, Makarios |
