Bible Question:
Is a false humility wrong for a professed Christian? Someone that tries to give an impression to another Christian as though they are less than they actually are. Like attempting to appear to another Christian like they aren't as smart as others in things of the bible. Isn't doing this deceptive and manipulative for a Christian to practice? Wouldn't it be considered lying? Lightedsteps |
Bible Answer: Hi, Lighted... Anything contrary to the holy nature of our God would be something we should eschew. "Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom." (Psalms 51:6 NASB) Of course, as believers we are uniquely equipped to understand our spiritual poverty (Job 25:4; Psalm 143:2; Matthew 5:3; 23:12; Luke 18:14). As we see more of God, that becomes more and more clear. In that light, how might we glory in anything about ourselves? In addition, we understand the essential necessity of humility (Isaiah 57:15; James 4:6-9). In Him, Doc |
