AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain [on the earth] will simultaneously be caught up (raptured) together with them [the resurrected ones] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord! [John 14:3; 1 Cor 15:52; 2 Cor 5:8; Phil 1:23; Col 3:4] |
Subject: When was the term "rapture" begin? |
Bible Note: The modern-day church seems to not do a very good job of explaining this issue. God's kingdom is right here on the face of the earth. Christ will return the same way he left. He will descend (Acts 1:11). People who have died will come back to life (Daniel 12:2, Isaiah 26:19). And the New Jerusalem will descend from heaven (Revelation 21:2). If you rapture/fly away you're sure to miss the whole thing. That wouldn't be too much fun now would it. Acts 1:11 and they also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven." Daniel 12:2 "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt. Isaiah 26:19 Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits. Revelation 21:2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. |
