Bible Question:
I'm doing a study series by Skip Heitzig of Calvary connection. He refers to First Thessalonians 4:13-18 as an example of the rapture of the Christians, yet when I read these verses regarding the coming of the Lord, in my NIV Bible I see no mention of the event, in fact I only see where it states that there will still be some believers living when Christ returns and that the dead in Christ rise first and the remaining believers will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air. Am I missing something here? thanks, Chusarcik |
Bible Answer: Hello Chusarcik The word "rapture" is not used in Scripture but speaks of a "taking" or "capturing away." That is what is described in this passage. This taking away has two parts--first the dead, then the living. We don't know exactly how long between these two events (probably just a moment), but it gives an accurate account. Steve |
