Bible Question: Is this saying that Archangel Michael and Jesus are the same being? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Holymatro! I haven't read all of the responses to your question, so I might be repeating points which others have already made. But, in response to your question, this verse is not saying that Christ is an archangel. Here is why: The subject of the verse is the Lord, while the action of the verse is that He 'will come down'. This action is said to be accompained by three things: a) With a shout of command, b) With a voice of an archangel, c) And, with the trumpet of God. None of these three items necessarily have to be produced by Christ Himself. They could come from God the Father, angels, ect.... The point of the verse is not that Jesus makes these sounds, but simply that these three things will accompany His return. Further, note that Michael is not mentioned in the verse at all. I hope this answers your question. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
