AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Thessalonians 3:8 because now we really live [in spite of everything], if you stand firm in the Lord. |
Bible Question: How does another's firm stand in the Lord enable us to "really live"? What is the priciple behind this? |
Bible Answer: Mommapbs, Doc said: "Reading the biographies of great men and women of faith should be a discipline of every believer. "For example, I strongly encourage that you read the biography of John Newton, the man who wrote Amazing Grace. "By the way, you might also be blessed by the biography by Corrie ten Boom. When I read your words, I remembered something she said: "Look within, be depressed; look without, be distressed; look above, be at rest!" Be encouraged, dear sister, the Lord is the author and perfector of our faith!" I agree. That is the whole idea behind reading the lives of the Saints in the Catholic tradition. I also highly recommend The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. Over the years I have read it aloud to my daughter as she was growing up and then we read it to each other in turns and she has given it as gifts to friends. Emmaus |
