NASB | Colossians 3:5 ¶ Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Colossians 3:5 ¶ So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body [with its sensual, self-centered instincts] immorality, impurity, sinful passion, evil desire, and greed, which is [a kind of] idolatry [because it replaces your devotion to God]. |
Bible Question: can someone help me with Bible reference where man fail to be committed to God and because of that he turn to worshiping idols.thanks |
Bible Answer: Dear Endie, If one does not commit to God, what does he/she commit to? Please understand that the meaning of idols do not limit to those of the men made images or statues. One who loves anything more than God, he/she commits idolatry. Col 3:5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. Go onto v 6, it talks about the consequence (This should also answer your another question). Here are some more scriptures for you to ponder: John 15:1-8 Luke 8:4-15 2 Cor 6:14-18 Rom 8:5-9 Hope this is helpful. Shalom Azure |
