AMPLIFIED 2015 | Colossians 2:5 For even though I am absent [from you] in body, nevertheless I am with you in spirit, delighted to see your good discipline [as you stand shoulder to shoulder and form a solid front] and to see the stability of your faith in Christ [your steadfast reliance on Him and your unwavering confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness]. |
Bible Question: It is hard to imagine that, even after all of the years that this forum has operating, no one has asked the following question! What exactly does Paul mean when he says, "though I am absent in body, nevertheless I am with you in spirit"? |
Bible Answer: This is a figure of speech. Paul is saying while he not there physically he is there in spirit. Or that he is for them or agreeing with them, holding them up in prayer. We often say something similar when a love one goes off to a competition where we can't go. We are saying we will root or cheer for them we will listen or watch them on TV or news. While we aren't physically there we are there in our spirit and mind. |
