Bible Question:
My wife, who is a believer, has been looking into subjects that contain ungodly spiritual practices. She seems to believe that some of these practices are okay. For example, she began identifying with Native American culture and came home burning sage incense in the house to "cleanse from evil spirits". When I said that prayer does that, she didn't seem to want to listen. I went on to say that looking to means other than Christ was occultic. She ignored me. I've been praying, but my wife continues to look into other things. I am on the path to finding a Christian marriage counselor, but wanted to get some other insight. Into the matter. What do we do when believers (especially ones we are married to) begin going down such dark paths? Thanks. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Brother, I am so saddened to hear about your situation and will offer prayer for you and your wife. I would simply ask her one question (and make sure she knows how serious you are): What do you need or require that the Lord God Almighty cannot supply? I would ask her to answer also as seriously as possible. (I am banking on the fact of your intimacy with her as your wife.) Some Scriptures you can refer her to are: Phil. 4:9 "And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Is. 59:1 "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short, that it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull, that it cannot hear." Luke 18:27 "..."The things that are impossible with people are possible with God." Try to lead her to the Lord's complete and total sufficience. I am a female and know that we have to be sorta approached from the sensitive end and in a way that we feel we are being listened to. Maybe, she will 'talk' herself out of whatever she is searching for outside of the Lord and find herself being led back to Him. God bless you and comfort you through this and give you all understanding and wisdom in this situation. hidden in Christ, Lissa |
